I am a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurse Credentialing Center.
I received my Doctorate of Nursing Practice from Colorado Mesa University in 2019. Where I took an interest in small-town medicine and effective pain management.
I recently moved to the southeast area and spend my days doing home-based visits and teaching students at Otero Community College.
I believe that effective health care requires time to build caring and therapeutic relationships with patients. With so many hardworking people struggling with illness, long waits, and rushed visits, I set out to build a "clinic" where every decision serves to make quality primary care more personal, convenient and valuable.
I have two beautiful girls and a loving husband. When she not caring for patients she is enjoying adventures with her family or playing with her variety of animals.
The Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree is the highest degree in clinical nursing. The DNP prepares practitioners to translate evidence-based care into practice, improve systems of care and measure outcomes of groups of patients and communities. DNPs hold advanced knowledge and skill in:
•Scientific Underpinnings of Practice;
•Organizational and Systems Leadership for Quality and Improvement;
•Clinical Scholarship and Analytical Methods for Evidence-Based Practice;
•Information Systems and technology for Patient Care;
•Health Care Policy and Advocacy,
•Inter-professional Collaboration
Nurse Practitioners (NPs) have been providing primary, acute, and specialty healthcare to patients of all ages and walks of life for nearly half a century. NPs assess patients, order and interpret diagnostic tests, make diagnoses, and initiate and manage treatment plans – including prescribing medications for both acute and chronic medical conditions. They are the healthcare providers of choice for millions of patients. An NP is truly your partner in Health.
NPs are advanced practice registered nurses that have obtained a graduate degree, advanced clinical training, and are board-certified (BC) to practice in their specialty area. They offer a unique perspective to your health through focusing on health promotion, disease prevention, health education, and counseling, allowing patients to become active in their healthcare.
A partnership is one of the most important relationships that health care providers can make. Dr. Authumn is proud to have a working collaboration with Dr. Paula Machionda owner of MIMI's clinic.
